Few players hit as hard — or as honestly — as Johnny Winter. From Texas roots to global stages, Winter became one of the defining voices of blues-rock: ferocious picking, lightning runs, and that unmistakable slide tone. He broke wide in the late ’60s, released a run of heavyweight records, and stayed active as a performer right through to his passing in 2014.
