MATON Feedback Eliminator
To get the most out of a Maton Feedback Eliminator, here are some tips and guidelines for using it effectively:
1. Installation
- The Maton Feedback Eliminator is designed to fit snugly into the soundhole of your acoustic guitar. Simply press it gently into the soundhole until it sits flush with the guitar’s top.
- Make sure it fits securely but is not forced, as this can damage both the eliminator and your guitar.
2. When to Use It
- Live Performances: If you’re playing in a live environment with loud stage monitors or PA systems, feedback can be a common issue. Use the eliminator when amplifying your guitar to prevent feedback loops.
- High-Volume Situations: If you're performing with other amplified instruments, using a feedback eliminator will help reduce the chances of sound being picked up again by the guitar’s pickups.
3. How it Works
- The soundhole of an acoustic guitar acts as a resonator. When your guitar is plugged into an amplifier, sound waves can enter the soundhole and cause a feedback loop. The eliminator blocks these sound waves from entering, reducing or eliminating feedback.
- It can also slightly change the tonal quality of your guitar, reducing some of the natural resonance. However, this tradeoff is often worth it for clean, feedback-free amplification.
4. Optimizing Sound Quality
- Adjust EQ Settings: When using the feedback eliminator, you may notice a slight reduction in the natural projection of the guitar. To compensate, tweak the EQ settings on your amp or PA system by boosting the mid and high frequencies slightly to maintain clarity.
- Test Your Setup: Before performing, always do a sound check with the eliminator in place. This allows you to fine-tune the tone and volume to ensure you're getting the best sound without unwanted feedback.
5. Removing the Feedback Eliminator
- After your performance or practice session, carefully remove the eliminator by gently pulling it out from the edges. Avoid using sharp objects to pry it out, as this could damage your guitar.
6. Use with Maton Guitars
- Maton guitars, particularly their acoustic-electric models, are designed to be used with accessories like feedback eliminators. This makes them a great match for live performance settings where amplification is required.
7. Maintenance
- Keep the eliminator clean by wiping it down regularly with a soft cloth. Store it in a safe place when not in use to prevent any damage or deformation.
By using the Maton Feedback Eliminator properly, you can enjoy amplified performances without the distraction of feedback, while maintaining much of the guitar’s natural tone. If you play in larger venues or louder environments often, this can be a valuable tool to keep in your kit.
