For those who are new to Taylor Guitars, we always recommend to start by playing the 800 Series and in particular the TAYLOR 814ce Grand Auditorium.
The 814ce has for many years been the flagship acoustic for Taylor and there's a reason why this is Taylor's most acclaimed guitar. With its blend of refined craftsmanship, richly textured sound and artful aesthetics, the 814ce represents everything that defines them as guitar builders.
With the classic combination of East Indian rosewood back and sides, a Sitka spruce top powered by the the modern V-Class bracing, the 814ce produces a lush response with warm lows, pristine trebles and a slightly scooped midrange. This leaves space in the mix for vocals or other instruments. For many players this combination is quickly familiar and pleasant to listen to.
V-Class bracing, designed by Andy Powers, means the instrument has both incredible sustain and power. The sonic engine behind all of Taylors Guitars, the V-Class bracing replaces traditional X-bracing pattern. Another benefit of this is the better intonation and "in tune-ness" this provides. The Grand Auditorium shape is ideal for flatpicked lead lines, strumming, delicate fingerpicking and everything in between, making it a super versatile instrument. Taylor's signature shape has been the first choice for many players thanks to its comfortable size and full sound. While the bigger Dreadnought was traditionally considered a flatpicker’s guitar and the smaller Grand Concert catered to fingerstylists, the GA was designed to deliver on both fronts

The heart of the Expression System 2 is Taylor’s patented behind-the-saddle pickup, which features three uniquely positioned and individually calibrated pickup sensors. The location of the sensors enables a more dynamic range of acoustic sound to be captured than ever before. Together with Taylor’s custom-designed “professional audio”-grade preamp, this system produces exceptional amplified tone and responsiveness.
